Grafham Grange Site
The Trustees and Chief Executive Officer of Grafham Grange Special Educational Trust (founded in 1994 by special act of Parliament) are delighted to announce the acquisition of the Freehold of the Grafham Grange Site in its entirety.
Almost immediately on gaining ownership, the first major development of the site is underway - the construction of a state of the art third generation all - weather pitch with major funding support from the Football Foundation , and also with the support of other Charitable Trusts and Waverley Community Fund. Ready for October 2008, Grafham Grange Special Educational Trust expects that this facility will enable Grafham to become a Centre of Sporting Excellence for the local Community, fostering increased participation in sport for those with Disability and Disadvantage. Working with Surrey FA and the Football Foundation, an ambitious Community Plan is in place with exciting targets to enrich Community Facilities and outcomes in this important area of need.
Grafham Grange School's New All Weather Football Pitch
GGSET have been successful in securing £282,000 principally from the Football Foundation augmented by other Charitable Trusts and Waverley Community Fund, to realise the construction of the all weather football pitch at GGS which will take place in the summer holidays. As a result, we expect to become a Centre for Excellence for Sport Participation principally football in the community for those with disadvantage and disability. The Football Foundation is dedicated to revitalising the grass roots of the game, constructing modern football facilities, developing football as a force for social cohesion and as a vehicle for education in communities throughout the country. Funded by the Premier League, The Football Association and the Government, the Football Foundation is the nation’s largest sports charity with a £45m budget going straight into the heart of football.
Every Child a Reader
In her capacity as Patron of the £10M Every Child a Reader initiative directed by KPMG and bringing together a coalition of business, Education and Voluntary Sector Groups, Sue Tresman is to visit a London school to see the Every Child a Reader work in action.
Research Partnership Established
Building on the CEO's Visiting Chair with Sunderland University, a new Research Partnership is to go ahead between Sunderland University and GGSET to promote research and reflective practice in the areas of diversity, inclusion and leadership and innovation in special education.
