Success stories

Chris Davies

When I first came to Grafham grange I was in year 8. I was nervous on my first day but my classmates made it ok. This was the first boarding school I had ever been to. I came here because of my behaviour at my last school. It was a big decision for me and my mum for me to go to a boarding school but I decided to come anyway. My first week I had a few problems at night but, after a couple of weeks, the problems didn't really happen again.

Staff at Grafham are supportive and friendly and lessons are easier to handle because you are in smaller groups. Activities after school are very good; some of the activities are things like golf, fishing on our lakes, swimming, ice skating, bowling and many more. If you do well at Grafham you get rewarded if you don't you miss out.

"I enjoy this school and its ways of doing things, and it has made me independent in many different ways."

At the end of the school year we go on camps/holidays. The first camp I ever went on was Dartmoor. The camps are really good to bond with your class/room mates because you get to do activities and have fun.

After Dartmoor camp I went to live in America and I came back to England after being there for five months. In America I went to a mainstream school and I found it ok I never really got in trouble, so when I came back I had the chance to a go to a mainstream school again or reapply for Grafham. I applied for Grafham and I came back in January. Everyone was pleased to see me again and I settled back down.

Now I am in year 10 I have no trouble at school and I am now starting some of my GCSEs early. All in all I think Grafham is a good school to come to and personally I would rather come here and get my C in my GCSE and have fun, than go to a mainstream school and be bored.

Something that I should mention if you like football, is our school football team. Our team is very successful and we have been in the cup final for four years in a row, and we have won it three times in those four years. I have appeared in two of the finals, one which we lost 4-2 and one were we won 6-2.

To finish this piece of writing I have to say, I enjoy this school and its ways of doing things, and it has made me independent in many different ways. So if you are having doubts about coming here don't, because you will enjoy it.
